Revelation Fulfilled
Unveiling the Mystery of the Book of Revelation
To understand the real meaning of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation, people need to see how the prophecies in the Book of Daniel were fulfilled. There is a special feature on the fulfillment of the prophecies in the Book of Daniel. It is the multiple visions for multiple confirmation.1. The Multiple Visions for Multiple Confirmation
In the Book of Daniel, God had shown Daniel three sets of dreams and visions: the dream of a Giant Statue (Chapter 2), the vision of Four Beasts (Chapter 7), and the vision of a Ram and a Goat (Chapter 8). And they all prophesied the same historical events: the rising of four kingdoms - Babylon, Medo-Persia, Macedon-Greece and the Roman Empire, which lasted over a thousand years from 600s BC to the 400s AD. God used multiple visions in the Book of Daniel to confirm the prophecies of the same major events in the future.
Dream & Visions Prophecies Fulfilled The Book of Daniel The Dream of a Giant Statue (Daniel 2)
The Vision of the Four Beasts (Daniel 7)
The Vision of a Ram & a Goat (Daniel 8)
The Rising of Four Kingdoms from 600 BC to 400 AD:
- The Babylonian Empire
- The Persian Empire
- The Greek/Macedonian Empire
- The Roman Empire
In the Book of Revelation, there are also two sets of visions: The visions of the Seven Letters to the Seven Churches (Revelation 2-3) and the Visions on the Scroll (Revelation 5-22).
2. The Prophetic Meaning of the Seven Letters to the Seven ChurchesThe first set of visions are the Seven Letters to the Seven Churches in the Asia Minor, which were established by the apostles in the first century.
Although these Seven Letters to the Seven Churches mainly contained Jesus Christ's messages of encouragement and reprimand to the early churches, they did have prophetic meanings as part of this book of prophecy. These seven letters prophesied the seven historical periods, or seven phases, of Christianity in the Christian history:
The Seven Letters to the Seven Churches
The Seven Periods/Phases of Christianity in History
The Letter to the Church in Ephesus
30 A.D. - 100 A.D. Apostolic Phase of Christianity
This was the period that the Apostles of Christ were preaching the gospel and established the new churches across the Roman Empire. The Letter to the Church in Smyrna
100 A.D. - 313 A.D. Persecuted Phase of Christianity
This was the period that Christians were under severe persecution in the Roman Empire. The Letter to the Church in Pergamum
313 A.D. - 590 A.D. Elevated Phase of Christianity
This was the period that Christianity was elevated to become the state religion of the Roman Empire. The Letter to the Church in Thyatira
590 A.D. - 1517 A.D. Authoritative Phase of Christianity
This was the period that the Roman Catholic Church was given the power and authority over the Christendom in Europe. The Letter to the Church in Sardis
1517 A.D. - 1730s A.D. Reformed Phase of Christianity
This was the period that Reformation started across Europe and Protestants went to the New Continent of America. The Letter to the Church in Philadelphia
1730s A.D. - 1900s A.D. Missionary Phase of Christianity
This was the period that the Great Awakening started in the New Continent of America, which gave birth to the New Nation of God, the United States of America. The Letter to the Church in Laodicea 1900s A.D. - 2000s A.D. Apostate Phase of Christianity
This was the period that Christianity declined and yield to the secularism, and materialism and atheism took over the mainstream ideology of the society. At the end of this period or phase of Christianity, the Christ/ Messiah would come for the "Second Coming". "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." (Revelation 3:20)
In the past several decades, some Christian scholars already figured out the prophetic meaning of these seven letters to the seven churches. Although some interpretations may vary in details, the main frame of these seven phases of Christianity are the same.
3. The Prophecies of the Visions on the ScrollThe most mysterious part of the Book of Revelation is the second set of visions in Chapter 5-22 of the Book of Revelation, the visions on the scroll. As "no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth" has the authority to open this scroll except Christ the Lamb, it does require the special authority of Christ/Messiah to unveil the real prophetic meaning of these visions on the scroll.
For the past two thousand years, many people have tried to decode the mystery of the visions on the scroll in the Book of Revelation. Some people thought these visions were about the disasters at the "End Time", some people thought they were about the disasters in the first century when Christ wrote these letters to the seven churches, and some people even thought they were about the historical events before Jesus was born. These interpretations were all incorrect.
As God is consistent in His way of prophesying the future, it is very reasonable to assume God would use the same method to prophesy the future in the Book of Revelation as He did in the Book of Daniel. Since the Book of Revelation contains many more visions than the Book of Daniel, these visions on the scroll in the Book of Revelation should prophesy a much longer period of time than the one thousand years prophesied in the Book of Daniel.
In fact, God even gave a direct hint in the Book of Revelation, which most people did not pay attention to. At the beginning of Chapter 4 of the Book of Revelation, the voice of an angel told John:
“Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” (Revelation 4:1)
This clearly indicates that the visions on the scroll in the Book of Revelation starting from Chapter 6 are not about the disasters at the "End Time" two thousand years later, but about the major historical events starting after this Revelation on the island of Patmos in the first century all the way to the New Millennium.
Therefore, the visions of the Seven Letters to the Seven Churches and the visions on the scroll prophesied the same period of Christian history, from the early centuries all the way to the "Second Coming" for the New Millennium, except the visions on the scroll also prophesy beyond the New Millennium till the next Millennium for the Final Judgment and the New Heaven and New Earth in Chapter 20-22.
Therefore, to understand the prophecies in the Book of Revelation, people need to know the common feature of the prophecies in both the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation - the Multiple Visions for Multiple Confirmation.
