Since Hamas started the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the conflict between Palestine and Israel in the Gaza Strip has escalated into another war in the Middle East with Iran and Israel attacking each other directly. It’s time to find a peaceful solution to end this war now before it turns into the “Armageddon” as prophesied in the Bible’s Book of Revelation.

I. The Recent War Between Israel and Hamas/Iran in the Middle East
On October 7, 2023, Hamas and several other Palestinian militant groups launched coordinated armed attacks from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, the first invasion of Israeli territory since the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
In the early hours of October 7, Hamas militants launched more than 5,000 rockets into the Israel territory and breached the Gaza-Israel barrier attacking both Israel military installations and civilian residential areas including the Nova music festival. The attackers killed 1,139 people, including women, children and foreign nationals, and abducted 250 Israeli civilians as hostages to the Gaza Strip. During this attack, some militants committed horrible crimes of raping and mutilating women and killing babies, which enraged Israel vowing to revenge.
Shortly after the surprising attack from Hamas, Israel Defense Forces(IDF) organized a counterattack to repel the invaders into Israeli territory. On October 8, 2023, the Israeli government announced the state of war with Hamas and started the total blockade of the Gaza Strip of any food, water and medicine supplies.
In the following weeks, Israel Defense Forces bombed the Gaza Strip heavily and destroyed many Hamas military infrastructure and underground tunnels as well as some public buildings, hospitals and schools that were used by Hamas as shelters and operation bases. After an extensive aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military embarked on a large-scale ground invasion beginning on October 27, 2023.
In the next several months, Israeli military forces destroyed most Hamas militant organizations in the Northern Gaza Strip and only a small fraction of Hamas groups still took the control of Southern Gaza in the City of Rafah. During this period, tens of thousands of buildings in the Gaza Strip were damaged or destroyed and over 30,000 people died in the war, including women and children.
On April 1, 2024, Israel bombed an Iranian consulate annex in Damascus, Syria, killing multiple senior Iranian officials, including a commander for Iran’s Quds Force who provided training and support to the Palestinian militants. Iran vowed to revenge and would attack Israel directly.
Early on April 13, Iran’s proxy Hezbollah attacked southern Israel with around 40 rockets. Israel responded by bombing a Hezbollah weapons manufacturing site in Lebanon. Later, Iran and its proxies attacked Israel with about 300 drones and multiple ballistic missiles. The Houthis, Islamic Resistance in Iraq, and Badr Organization also launched attacks at Israel under Iranian command. The United States, United Kingdom, and Jordan intercepted over 100 Iranian drones.
This Iran orchestrated attacks on Israel by drones and ballistic missiles eventually hit various cities across Israel, the West Bank, and Golan Heights. The attack also damaged the Netavim and Ramon air bases in Israel. However, this attack is more about warning of revenge rather than actual damage. It only caused 33 civilians injured rather than over a thousand deaths in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
On April 19, 2024, Israel carried out the retaliatory attack on multiple Iranian and its associated military sites in Iran, Syria and Iraq, including one site near the nuclear facilities in Isfahan in central Iran. Apparently, this retaliatory attack from Israel is also more about warning than an actual declaration of war with Iran. Hopefully both sides have achieved their goals of retaliation and can calm down on their military response to each other.
However, the main cause of these military conflicts and the potential for another war in the Middle East is still the Palestine territory dispute. If we cannot resolve this problem, the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis could never end.
This time, Hamas started this war by attacking Israel with 5,000 missiles and killed over 1,000 Israelis. They ended up paying the price of over 30,000 deaths of Palestinian people in the retaliatory attacks from Israel. Next time, if Hamas could get some nuclear bombs through its smuggling tunnels, those leaders of Hamas living a luxurious life abroad would not hesitate to sacrifice the lives of Palestinian people to start a jihad with nuclear bombs. Then the Gaza Strip could be wiped out and millions of people on both sides could die. The whole Middle East could face the devastating consequence of the nuclear war and the last impact of the nuclear disaster.
Therefore, it’s time to find the solution to end the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis once for all.
